Steven J. Touliopoulos, MD
Steven J. Touliopoulos, MD, has been transforming the lives of patients by improving and restoring their mobility and function for over 20 years. Board certified in both orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine, he treats injuries and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle and is highly-skilled in arthroscopic surgery. Among his areas of expertise are joint reconstruction of the upper and lower extremities, total knee and total hip replacement, and fracture treatment. He is much sought after for his surgical skills and many physicians themselves have been his patients. He is highly respected by fellow physicians, and, for several years, has been honored with the Castle Connolly Top Doctor in recognition of his excellence in training and clinical skills, as well as his care and concern for patients, as voted by his physician peers.
He values meeting with patients, understanding their condition and their goals. He believes that patient education plays an important role in optimizing outcomes. He finds the transformative role he plays in his patients’ lives most rewarding.
Dr. Touliopoulos completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where he studied advanced orthopedic surgical techniques and assisted in caring for athletes from professional and college teams. Prior to his fellowship he completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and a MS degree in bioengineering and a BS degree in chemical engineering, both from Columbia University.
Dr. Touliopoulos is a member of a number of professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
